Hi there, I’m Turiya. I have a 15 year background in studio art. Engaging with an assortment of mediums, ranging from watercolor and oil to printmaking, and digital renderings. I do not identify with one particular aesthetic. In my early years, I struggled with developing a “thumbprint”- or a recognizable theme in which I incorporated within my work. In recent times, I’ve found comfort in exploring different forms of art that can be conveyed with a variety of materials/mediums. This has alleviated some of the pressures I once inflicted on myself of categorizing my work with one style of art. In my current pieces, I have reflected on my surroundings. My environment is continuously shifting and so are my perceptions of what I experience. And more specifically, how I allow myself to digest those experiences. I rely heavily on what I create to portray my thoughts and feelings. Essentially documenting those events as time progresses.
